Richard and Mildred Sharp Memorial Fund

Mildred Sharp, a long-time resident of Shamokin, passed away January 21, 2013. She was born April 22, 1913, the daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Kerstetter) Bixler. Mrs. Sharp was a graduate of Shamokin High School, Class of 1931, and Bloomsburg State Teachers College. She was a former teacher in the Lincoln School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shamokin. On May 30, 1947 she married Richard Sharp, who passed away April 10, 1988.

During her lifetime, she worked with E. Lori Smith, Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed, and with Attorney James C. Bohorad to establish a bequest through her Last Will & Testament to support her charitable giving goals.

The annual earnings from the Richard and Mildred Sharp Memorial Fund will be distributed equally to the First United Methodist Church of Shamokin, the Shamokin High School Alumni Association, and the Shamokin/Coal Township Public Library as specified by the donor.
